Touch copies
tactile relief and audio descriptions

The Hamburger Kunsthalle offers multi-sensory access to selected exhibits for blind and visually impaired people and anyone interested in more detailed image descriptions or haptic experiences. Audio descriptions are available in the Hamburger Kunsthalle app and in the multimedia guide (available to borrow). In addition, so-called tactile copies are provided (on request at the information desk on the ground floor and on display on benches in the exhibition): These provide an additional option for exploring key works in the exhibition by feeling contours and internal structures.

It is advisable to have an accompanying person help you with both media (app and tactile copies).

In addition, the KOSMOS CASPAR education room on the first floor features a tactile relief for the first time, allowing visitors to experience Caspar David Friedrich's 1823/24 painting The Sea of Ice haptically. The ice floes, the sky and the shipwreck can be felt on several levels. Different textures make it possible to recreate snow, clouds and ice.
