INFORMATION ON VISITING THE CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH EXHIBITION


We look forward to welcoming you to our anniversary exhibition CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH.  To ensure that your visit runs smoothly and pleasantly from the outset, we have put together some important information to help you plan your stay.
 

Ticketing

Ticket sales at the museum box office (sold out!)
All time slot tickets and flexi-tickets are sold out. If you have not yet purchased a ticket, it is unfortunately no longer possible to visit the exhibition »Caspar David Friedrich. Art for a New Age«.

 

Time slot tickets (sold out!)
Time slot tickets limit the admission time and not the length of stay. You can therefore also enter shortly before the end of your time slot. Please note our opening hours and special opening times.

Admission is no longer possible approximately 45 minutes before the Kunsthalle closes. We recommend that you enter the exhibition in the evening or in the second or third hour of a time slot, as experience has shown that capacity utilisation is lower in these times.
With the ticket for the exhibition »Caspar David Friedrich. Art for a New Age«, you can also visit the collection and the other current exhibitions in the Hamburger Kunsthalle on the day of your visit.
 

Flextickets (sold out!)
Flextickets can be used without booking a time slot on any date and at any time during our opening hours. You do not need to book an additional time slot and can use your flex ticket even if a time slot is already fully booked; in this case,please be aware that there will be many other visitors in the exhibition

 

 

Kunstmeilen Pass (sold out!)
All time slot tickets and flexi-tickets are sold out. If you have not yet purchased a ticket, it is unfortunately no longer possible to visit the exhibition »Caspar David Friedrich. Art for a New Age« is unfortunately no longer possible.
 

KulturPass (sold out)
The KulturPass can only be redeemed at the museum box office after booking a regular ticket via the KulturPass app and not via the webshop.  If you have not yet booked a free time slot ticket for the exhibition »Caspar David Friedrich. Art for a New Age« in the webshop, this is unfortunately no longer possible. The exhibition is sold out!

 

Children & young people (sold out)
For children and young people up to and including the age of 17, please purchase a free time slot ticket via our webshop.

 

Reduced tickets (sold out!)
Reduced admission tickets can be purchased for 8 euros by visitors with a severely disabled pass. The degree of disability has no influence on this offer. If you have a » B« on your ID card, you can bring an accompanying person free of charge. Please purchase a free time slot ticket for your companion. Further information on accessibility can be found here. An overview of reduced tickets, for example for students, can be found here. We do not currently offer reduced tickets for pensioners.

 

Rebooking & cancellation
Unfortunately, we can no longer cancel or rebook exhibition tickets. However, the tickets are not personalised, so you are welcome to give them away or pass them on to someone else if you wish.

 

Opening Hours
The opening hours for the exhibition »Caspar David Friedrich. Art for a New Age« differ from the regular opening hours of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. The anniversary exhibition is regularly open until 7 pm. The Hamburger Kunsthalle is closed on Mondays (exception: Easter Monday, April 1, 2024, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.) From March 2024, we will be open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Please check the opening hours and deviating special opening hours on public holidays here.

Exhibition tours and group bookings

As we are now fully booked, we are unfortunately no longer able to offer group bookings for this exhibition. 
However, you are welcome to purchase individual visitor tickets for your group in the webshop and visit the exhibition in small groups of 3-5 people.
 

Private guided tours (sold out!)
As we are now fully booked, we are unfortunately no longer able to offer appointments for private tours or group bookings for this exhibition.
Please only purchase single visitor tickets for your groups in advance and divide your group into small groups of 3-5 people in the exhibition rooms.
Unfortunately, we can no longer offer private guided tours and no longer accept licensed tours. If you are interested in a public guided tour, please check the available dates in our webshop.

Audio guide
You can purchase our audio guide for a rental fee of 8 euros via the audio devices on site. We cannot reserve the audio devices in advance. Alternatively, you can listen to the tour on your mobile phone using the free app of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. 

 

School classes & daycare groups
To book a guided tour or register a group for the exhibition, please contact the Museumsdienst Hamburg at: info[at]museumsdienst-hamburg.de . We offer school classes and daycare groups a visit to the anniversary exhibition between 9 am and 10 am. REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PRESS

We can only send a ticket to media representatives currently reporting on the exhibition (one ticket per medium). In this case, please contact the press office well in advance. We also request proof of coverage within 4 weeks.

 

 

ARRIVAL

Rail and public transport:
The Hamburger Kunsthalle is located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station.


By Car
Due to a major construction site at Ferdinandstor, access to the paid parking garage below the Galerie der Gegenwart is currently only possible from the Außenalster. In the period 14.03.2024 - 31.03.2024 and 16.05.2024 - 30.05.2024 there will be a full road closure at Ferdinandstor. In addition, the underground parking garage in the Galerie der Gegenwart will be closed from 10.04.2024 - 31.10.2024 for renovation. We recommend the use of public transport during this period.


Couch
A short-term car park for coaches is located in Ernst-Merck-Str. in front of the rotunda of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Parking is limited to 15 minutes and is used for entering and exiting the car park. We have marked the car park for you on this map.


Orientation in the Hamburger Kunsthalle
The anniversary exhibition is located in the Galerie der Gegenwart. The Hamburger Kunsthalle is barrier-free. You can find helpful information at accessibility visit.

As a group, please use the group entrance and the group cloakroom. Bags (larger than DIN A4), rucksacks and umbrellas must be handed in. Unfortunately, we cannot accept luggage. Lockers for luggage are located at the main railway station.


The toilets are located in the basement and can be reached via the stairs or the lift.

Please be at the group meeting point in the atrium of the Galerie der Gegenwart 10 minutes before the start of your exhibition tour. Your guide will provide you with an audio guide system. If you are travelling with your own guide, please collect the audio guide system from the group cloakroom.
