The Wanderers

Dance Peformance in the exhibition »No Illusions«
Aleix Martinez / ManNera Dansa

»The labyrinth is a universal symbol that we find in all times and civilizations. Why? Because it connects us with that search that gives meaning to our lives, with what moves us... And with all the difficulties that arise in our attempt to achieve it.«

(Principal at the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier and choreographer)

In the labyrinth created by the walls of the exhibition »NO ILLUSIONS. Painting in Space«, an extraordinary dance performance will take place from 6 to 10 September. With »THE WANDERERS« the young ManNera - dance company presents the exhibition in a completely new context: movement, sound, space and the paintings form a poetic whole in which we as the audience are included to interact together in front of and within the images, creating a unique moment in which the exhibition space seems to expand.

» At the moment we arrive into this world, we come in total innocence, love, wonder and emptiness.  Being easily mouldable and programmable, we begin to believe everything that is presented to us, empowering the creation of our own lenses from where we begin to filter life. Without realizing it, the experiences that we were integrating, concluding and accepting, make life translate through that vision that we were forming for years, and it is from this conditioning that our actions and decisions have a great weight in the way of creating our own reality, our own mask.

But what if during the creation of our own mask, we lose ourselves in a deep sleep, in a never ending corridor, in a constant evolving labyrinth, being just a marionette of our own self?«

Together with the dancers, we will rediscover the exhibition space and the Gallery of Contemporary Art itself. How did our way we see the space change and what will happen when we emerge from this cosmos of sound, dance and images after the performance?
