DATE
25 July 2 August 2026

Christopher Street Day (CSD) is celebrated annually around the world. The movement dates back to events in June 1969, when police stormed the »Stonewall« bar on Christopher Street in New York, sparking resistance from trans people, gays and lesbians.
On the occasion of CSD in Hamburg, also known as HAMBURG PRIDE, PRIDE WEEK* will take place throughout Hamburg from 25 July to 2 August 2026. As the central component of HAMBURG PRIDE it warmly invites everyone to stand up for diversity and acceptance through a diverse programme.

For the forth time, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is organizing a series of exciting and queer events for young and old during PRIDE WEEK.

The grand finale of PRIDE WEEK will be the big CSD demonstration on Saturday, 1 August, at 12 pm, which will lead directly past the Hamburger Kunsthalle to the CSD street festival.

The Hamburger Kunsthalle wishes everyone a HAPPY PRIDE! Please note that most offers are presented in German.

* Associations, initiatives and groups from the LGBTQIA+ community are organizing lectures, discussions, performances, parties, readings, talks and much more during this time - PRIDE WEEK is as diverse as queer life in Hamburg.

In art history, there are many artists who have made an important contribution to the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersexual, Asexual) through their work – which is mirrored in the collection and exhibitions of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Queer content and stories can be found in many artworks. Artists and artworks have initiated discussions, presented new life models and established alternative ideals of beauty – and continue to do so.

»FAMILIENZEIT« invites families on a colourful and creative journey through 700 years of art history.

The »BILDERBUCHLESUNG WITH LADY SASHA« (in cooperation with the Bücherhallen Hamburg and pro familia) offers families with children aged 4 and over the opportunity to experience stories about otherness and diversity with drag artist Lady Sasha. After the reading, the participants can become artistically creative themselves!

The guided tour »WE‘RE NOT JUST A TREND: ART HAS ALWAYS ALSO BEEN QUEER« focuses on queer perspectives in art history and encourages discourse.

The guided tour »QUEER VISIONS« explores queer visions and aesthetics in art history and ventures a look into the future.

The »DRAG TOURS« with changing drag artists offer unique insights into the collection of the Hamburger Kunsthalle and combine an entertaining museum visit with plenty of humor and heart.

The »SALON« offers new impulses with live music, performances, and queer perspectives. In a relaxed atmosphere over a refreshing drink, the Salon turns its attention to selected exhibitions – with curiosity, openness, and approachability. Together with fascinating guests, the artist and host duo Tim & Daniel Stolte embark on an inspiring journey through the collection and special exhibitions of the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

And last but not least: The museum shop offers a colorful selection of queer literature for all ages.
