Forgetting

For the first time, an exhibition approaches the theme of forgetting solely from the perspective of international contemporary art. Some 20 international artists, most of them in dedicated rooms of their own, explore individual aspects of forgetting across a range of media. Working in painting, sculpture, installation, photography, works on paper, and film, they probe the many dynamics of forgetting and remembering. The artistic perspectives opened up here add to a complex web of research approaches and findings from a wide range of disciplines, including brain research and neuroscience, history, political science and the social sciences, psychoanalysis, and trauma research.
