The climate crisis is one of the most important challenges of our time - but climate change as a phenomenon did not suddenly appear out of nowhere. The causes go way back in history, not just decades but centuries. Have we lost our original relationship with nature in today's highly mechanised world? To what extent are the economic interests of the globalised world economy and the resulting environmental damage more deeply rooted in Western culture than we realise? What answers to these questions can be found in art?
In this dialogue-based format, visitors have the opportunity to experience the collection of the Hamburger Kunsthalle in a new way. Selected works of art from different eras are examined together in order to gain insights into the cultural-historical background to the climate crisis. With a broader understanding, the need for action becomes all the more urgent: It's now or never!
Please note that the tours will be held in German.
