An invitation to refugees of all ages: a one-hour free WELCOME GUIDE in German or English. Participants need to be pre-registered as a group via their carers or volunteers and accompanied by them during the museum visit. The accompanying person also receives free admission.

The guided tours lead you through the permanent collection of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. You can experience a tour through almost 800 years of art history.

With this offer we want to send a clear signal that refugees are welcome in Hamburg and at the Kunsthalle.  It is also meant as a contribution to their better integration.

Dialogue-based tour in the collection rooms of the Hamburger Kunsthalle with practical experience in the studio

Every first Friday of the month, from 2 to 4 pm, the Hamburger Kunsthalle invites all people with refugee experience along with their local caregivers to an open, free visit in a pleasant atmosphere. You will be welcomed to the Education & Communication premises with a small snack and a refreshing drink. Together, we will discover selected works of art from eight centuries and work creatively and practically in the studio in a two-hour programme.

The Welcome Workshops are held in German or English and are translated into Ukrainian or Russian.

Welcome Workshops can also be booked as individual group tours free of charge. We do our best to make your language request possible. Please get in touch with us.

Open Studio for Refugees in the Hamburg Metropolitan Area

The Hamburger Kunsthalle will be coming to facilities for refugees for 10 dates. In the free open studio, all people with refugee experience and their caregivers are welcome and invited to become creative hands-on with a small team of art educators from the Hamburger Kunsthalle. In a pleasant atmosphere, artistic proposals, materials and selected works of art from the museum spanning eight centuries are made tangible for people of all ages, inviting them to become artistically active themselves.

In response to the current situation, the offer is provided in German, English, Ukrainian and, if necessary, also in Russian. The dates can be planned individually. Several consecutive dates can also be requested.

10 dates à 120 min.

Please contact us via e-mail at: bildung-vermittlung@hamburger-kunsthalle.de, if you are interested yourself, within your institution or as a volunteer.

Creativity Packages

The Hamburger Kunsthalle has compiled 250 Creativity Packages, available as an open offer for refugees in the Hamburg metropolitan region. The packages consist of artistic suggestions, materials and connections to the city as well as the museum’s images and are aimed at children, families and adults. They contain, among other things, a sketchpad, pencils and crayons, street crayons and an accompanying booklet with tasks and information. The booklet is translated into Ukrainian in order to respond to the current situation.

The child- and family-friendly Creativity Packages are expected to be distributed to institutions in Hamburg’s city centre from July onwards.

Please contact us at digitale.vermittlung@hamburger-kunsthalle.de, if you are interested yourself, within your institution or as a volunteer.

All programme offers are available in other languages; please feel free to contact us for individual advice at bildung-vermittlung@hamburger-kunsthalle.de.

These programmes are supported by the Stiftung Kulturglück and the Verein Malschule in der Kunsthalle e.V. and have been developed in cooperation with the Stiftung Kulturglück.
