The Café George Economou - established in September 2011 - is located in the Rotunda close to the main entrance of the old wing. Thanks to the benefits of the Greek ship owner and collector George Economou the furniture could be realized with chairs and tables designed by Philipp Starck for the legendary Café Costes in Paris.
Enjoy snacks, Antipasti, Coffee and Tea, Cakes, Drinks and Cocktails.

The Liebermann Hall is located in the old building; a staircase with the Jenny Holzer installation "Ceiling Snake" creates an underground connection between the older structure and the new Galerie der Gegenwart.
The café's name is a tribute to the close working relationship between the painter Max Liebermann and Alfred Lichtwark, founding director of the Kunsthalle.

The newcafé-restaurant The Cube in the Gallery of Contemporary Art serves a tempting selection of hot food, salads, cakes, ice cream, coffee, tea, drinks and cocktails, which can also be enjoyed on the large sun terrace facing onto the Alster Lake.
