Special formats

Some things just don’t fit inside a fixed pattern or series: from time to time the Hamburger Kunsthalle presents formats that relate in a specific way to the themes of the artworks in the permanent collection or the special exhibitions. Such formats include interventions by dancers or musicians in different areas of the museum, theatre works, sound installations, performance pieces, film screenings or  events. Many different artists, musicians and other creative individuals such as Wolf Biermann, Ulita Knaus, Till Brönner, Jim Rakete or Johanna Wokalek have already been involved in these collaborative formats at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, where the performers can be experienced in contexts that they themselves would also regard as unique.
