To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Brücke group, the Hamburger Kunsthalle presents a comprehensive selection of paintings, drawings and prints by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Emil Nolde and Otto Mueller, including the famous Brücke portfolios. The members of the Brücke had particularly close ties to Hamburg. It was here that their works became well known and were intensively collected, among
others by the district court judge and collector Gustav Schiefler and the art historian Rosa Schapire.
